Dear Prof. Farnsworth,
My name is Philip J. Fry, I am a first-year master’s student in Futurology. I am looking for a 6 month research internship starting in January and would be very interested in joining your group.
I took your class in time travel last fall and got particularly interested in the topic of paradoxes. Reading about your research, I found your work of combining theoretical studies on wormholes with experimental space travel fascinating, and it led me to think about the possible applications of micro wormholes for space delivery, as briefly mentioned in your recent preprint.
Given my own background as time traveler, your scientific approach aligns very well with my interests and skills. My course syllabus has so far focused on time machines, and I very much enjoyed and scored highly in the special relativity seminar. In my bachelor thesis under guidance of Prof. Wernstrom, I used a time capsule to jump 1000 years into the future. This project gave me hands-on time travel experience, and my routine use of capsule interfaces could be valuable for a project in your lab.
Although I've not yet participated in space flight, I hold a flying saucer license, and would be excited to explore wormhole travel in an internship with you. This would equip me with practical experience for a PhD in interplanetary logistics, which I currently strive toward.
I have attached my CV, summarizing my study progress, technical skills, and references.
I would be happy to discuss possible projects with you. Next week, I am available Tue-Thu after 1 pm.
Kind regards,
Fry
